Webflow Setup

To connect Smolpix to your Webflow site, you need to create a Webflow App with OAuth credentials.

Why do I need my own OAuth credentials?

Webflow requires each user to authorize access to their sites. By using your own App credentials, you have full control over permissions and can revoke access at any time.

Creating a Webflow App

  1. Go to Webflow Workspace Settings → Apps & Integrations
  2. Click "Create an App"
  3. Fill in the app details:
    • Name: Smolpix
    • Description: Image optimization for Webflow
    • Homepage URL: https://smolpix.co
  4. Set the Redirect URI to:https://smolpix.co/api/webflow/callback
  5. Enable these scopes:
    • sites:read - Read site information
    • sites:write - Publish changes
    • cms:read - Read CMS collections
    • cms:write - Update CMS items
  6. Copy your Client ID and Client Secret
  7. Paste them in Smolpix Settings

Troubleshooting

"No Webflow credentials configured"

You need to add your Webflow App credentials before connecting a site.

Solution: Go to Settings → Add your Client ID and Client Secret from your Webflow App.

"Failed to fetch collections"

This usually means your OAuth token has expired or the site is not accessible.

Solution: Disconnect and reconnect your Webflow site to refresh the OAuth token.

"Image optimization failed"

Some images may fail to optimize due to format issues or size limits.

Solution: Check that the image is under 50MB and in a supported format (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP).

"Monthly limit reached"

You've used all your allocated images for this billing period.

Solution: Upgrade your plan or wait until your limit resets at the start of next month.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does optimization affect image quality?

No. Smolpix uses smart compression that maintains 99.8% visual quality. The difference is imperceptible to the human eye, but file sizes are dramatically smaller.

Can I revert optimized images?

Smolpix replaces images in your Webflow CMS. We recommend keeping backups of your original images before bulk optimization. You can always re-upload originals through Webflow.

Do I need to republish my site after optimization?

Yes. After optimization, you need to publish your Webflow site for changes to appear on your live website. CMS items are updated immediately, but require a publish to go live.

What happens to my data?

Images are processed securely and not stored permanently. We only keep optimization logs for 90 days. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Which browsers support WebP and AVIF?

WebP is supported by 97%+ of browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari 14+). AVIF is supported by 90%+ of browsers in 2026 (Chrome, Firefox, Safari 16+). For older browsers, images will still display but without the format benefits.
